Choosing combs, pin tools and crimpers

Decide how the strip should change

A comb sets the spacing of repeated loops. A pin tool lets you set points for a path. A crimper adds a wave texture along the strip. Choose by the step your pattern calls for.

Check the working width

Compare the opening of a crimper with your strip width and see whether it offers several wave patterns. For a comb, look at the tooth spacing and length where the paper actually wraps.

Compare these selections

Department questions

Can I use a larger comb to make the same small loop?

Check the tooth spacing and choose the teeth that match the pattern. A larger handle or more teeth alone does not set the loop size.

Can I compare two crimpers by the handle size?

Look for the feed width and the wave pattern instead. Handle dimensions tell you how much room the tool needs.

How should I repeat a changing loop pattern?

Use marked pin positions or count tooth intervals in a proof. Keep a note before moving the setup.
